Krüger Kaldnes AS entered into major contract with SalMar

Krüger Kaldnes AS has entered into an agreement with one of the world’s largest producers of farmed salmon, SalMar. The agreement involves construction of the world’s largest fish hatchery in Tjuin, Norway.

In collaboration with SalMar and constructing partner Consto, Krüger Kaldnes have started the collaboration phase to plan the final design and solutions at the Tjuin hatchery. Construction is scheduled for May 2021, in Malm, Steinkjer. With a total area of 17,000 square metres, the fish hatchery will be the world’s largest smolt plant.

AN IMPORTANT CONFIRMATION

“I am both proud and grateful that Krüger Kaldnes was chosen to be a supplier in the Tjuin project, along with Consto. As a company, we have spent recent years improving our competence within the areas of technology, innovation, biological science, project management – in addition to developing our personnel. Moreover, we have recruited some of Norway’s most skilled employees within important professional areas. Combining these people with the rest of our highly skilled staff, who have contributed significantly over decades in making the company what it is today, leaves us with a highly complex and competent team. The fact that SalMar has chosen us to be a supplier in the Tjuin project, is confirmation that we have succeeded in strengthening our company in several important areas”, says CEO of Krüger Kaldnes, Kent Kongsdal Rasmussen.

Sales Director Niels Brynnum in Krüger Kaldnes points out that “it has been both a professional and demanding process to reach the agreement. - We are all looking forward to getting started with the project, and at the same time thank SalMar for the opportunity.”

“Together with SalMar, we will once again build and deliver a world-leading land based fish farm, this facility will
prove to be an industry reference for future facilities”, says Jack Tucker, Sales Manager in Krüger Kaldnes.

LAND BASED FACILITIES INCREASING IN SCALE AND COMPLEXITY
“SalMar’s new hatchery in Tjuin confirms the impression I have gathered through my ten years in Krüger Kaldnes, which is that land based facilities are becoming larger and increasingly complex. Smolt facilities like the Tjuin project involve so much more than RAS technology. Biology, control systems, automation and cost-efficiency are more important than ever. Also, larger facilities require more complexity and flawless synergies between various parts of the production process. As a team of specialists, we are truly excited about getting started with this challenging project, in which Kaldnes’ RAS system is at the heart of the facility” says Process Manager in Krüger Kaldnes, Christian Rønning.

Krüger Kaldnes’ Business Development Director, Frode Eriksen, is very pleased that SalMar has once again chosen Krüger Kaldnes as the supplier.
